dc.description.abstractThe theme proposes to reflect on the phenomenon of school dropout among young people aged 15 (fifteen) to 17 (seventeen) years old who are attending high school. The present study seeks to answer the following research problem: What are the causes of school dropout in high school in a State School in the city of Contagem in Minas Gerais and how to face it? To this end, the general objective is to analyze the causes of school dropout and the mechanisms for coping with it in a State School in the city of Contagem - MG in the high school phase. The method used was the case study and the research carried out at school was characterized by a quantitative and qualitative approach. Data were obtained through interviews applied to students, teachers, principal, librarians and Guardianship Counselors of Contagem. This graduation conclusion paperwork also includes the debate on how to more effectively prevent the evasion of students in a decisive phase for entry into the labor market, as well as in intellectual and social development in this phase of transition that is age itself. The results of the research indicate that the biggest dropout is adolescents who do not have family support or from a guardian, in addition to finding that male students are the ones who mostly drop out. It is noteworthy that the respondents claimed that a relevant factor for school dropout is the lack of contextualization and dynamism to make classes and school an attractive place.
