A importância e o (re)conhecimento da profissão do arquivista na sociedade brasileira

Abstract

This study aims to introduce the reader what is the archivist professional and undergraduate course of existence in archival science because it is a profession where most of society knows exists, but does not know the role it plays professional. These aspects justify the research and this is an issue that was not addressed in the course conclusion work at the Federal University of Santa Maria. The research was based on theoretical framework on the experience of professional archivist and also by searching the internet contests notices, analyzing and showing the reality that the profession lives on the labor market. It was noticed that the schooling required to hold the position of archivist goes from primary education to higher education. Methodologically, it is a qualitative research whose main universe available information on tenders for archivology area available on the Internet. By the very nature of the requirement to tender is noted as is recurrent devaluation of the professional but this tends to happen until the day you need the documentation produced / received by the workplace and does not find it, and its disorganization. The negative experience generated by these situations, regarding the need to have an archivist is that interferes with the need to hire one, for example, by competition. From the research it is noted, which is quite poor surveillance since at least 32% of tenders announced on the site surveyed in 2015 did not consider a degree in archival science as a requirement to act as an archivist in prefectures and municipalities showing, clearly, the need for a regulatory body such contest. It was concluded that there is a lack of an entity with more effective powers to act in defense of Archivists class, having the function of permanent observation of the vacancies offered, especially in the public service. It was found that specific measures in order to curb the opening of tender for archivist without higher education should be taken throughout Brazil to guarantee that the Archivist post action is permitted only to the degree in archival science. It is understood that the creation of a professional advice and the dissemination of existing archival science coursesin Brazil, could be important actions to succeed.
