Permanence in higher education is something discussed and worked on by the government, being vital for the training of new professionals and the financial success of many families. This study aimed to answer the following question: “What are the factors linked to permanence and evasion in higher education?”. For the elaboration of this study, articles from Google Scholar were used, the works were identified in tables where the type of research was identified and the keywords used were then grouped by categories of significance, through Textual Discursive Analysis (ATD), where they were grouped and analyzed in categories: 1) Factors Related to Work and other Financial Aspects; 2) Factors Related to Social Interaction and Public Policies; 3) Factors Related to Discrimination and Prejudice and 4) Factors Intrinsic to the Subject. From the analysis of these categories, it was possible to list some important aspects for the permanence of the subject in undergraduate courses, such as socioeconomic, scholarships, aid, failure, engagement and even structural issues for people with disabilities and the use of the social name for people trans. Through the analysis, it can be inferred that the factors that prevent the subject from remaining in undergraduate courses are many, but that can be mitigated by public policies and even prevented with studies and survey of socioeconomic data of students, so that future permanence policies are really effective.
