Patrimônio documental musicográfico e iconográfico musical no Brasil: problemas e soluções

Abstract

A situação em que o patrimônio documental musicográfico e iconográfico musical se encontra atualmente no Brasil ainda expõe o grau de negligência que os nossos acervos documentais relativos à música sofreram ao longo de séculos por parte de indivíduos e instituições que pareciam (e, por vezes, ainda parecem) ignorar completamente o valor histórico e cultural da documentação por eles possuída. Problemas inerentes e históricos somam-se ainda a questões relativas à desigual distribuição de recursos financeiros e humanos para tomar devida conta desse patrimônio documental e cultural. Apesar do país possuir legislação específica dedicada à gestão documental, talvez o maior problema seja o desconhecimento do volume documental que esse patrimônio possui em termos quantitativos e qualitativos. Em busca de soluções para tal situação, resulta necessário aliar a Musicologia com outras duas áreas do conhecimento: a Ciência da Informação e a Tecnologia da Informação e Comunicação. Entendendo que os primeiros passos para a salvaguarda do nosso patrimônio documental musicográfico e iconográfico musical é saber onde ele se encontra e conhecê-lo quantitativa e qualitativamente, o desenvolvimento de uma ferramenta de catalogação que auxilie no mapeamento, identificação e descrição dessas fontes, tenciona evitar uma maior perda da memória cultural nacional. Destarte, o objetivo desta tese é identificar os problemas do patrimônio documental musicográfico e iconográfico musical no Brasil por meio da pesquisa bibliográfica e arquivística, confrontando-os nos termos das ferramentas de catalogação e pesquisa desenvolvidas, apresentando as suas capacidades e potencialidades. Tais ferramentas se apresentam como soluções urgentes para se ter a noção quantitativa e qualitativa do nosso patrimônio, dando subsídios à decisão política para os devidos investimentos financeiros em prol da salvaguarda do patrimônio documental musical.

The situation in which the documentary musicographic and iconographic musical heritage is currently in Brazil still exposes the degree of negligence that our documentary collections related to music have suffered for centuries for individuals and institutions that seemed (and sometimes still seem to) completely ignore the historical and cultural value of the documentation they possess. Inherent and historical problems add up to issues related to the unequal distribution of financial and human resources to take due account of this documentary and cultural heritage. Although the country has specific legislation dedicated to documentary management, perhaps the biggest problem is the lack of knowledge of the documentary volume that this patrimony has in quantitative and qualitative terms. In search of solutions to this situation, it is necessary to combine Musicology with two other areas of knowledge: Information Science and Information and Communication Technology. Understanding that the first step to safeguard our music documental heritage is to know where it is and to know it quantitatively and qualitatively, the development of a cataloging tool that assists the mapping, identification and description of these sources, intends to avoid a greater loss of our national cultural memory. Thus, the aim of this dissertation is to identify the problems related to music documental heritage (musicographical and visual related music sources) in Brazil through bibliographic and archival research, confronting them in terms of the cataloging and research tools developed, presenting their capabilities and potentialities. Such tools are presented as urgent solutions to have the quantitative and qualitative notion of our assets, giving subsidies to the political decision for the proper financial investments in favor of the safeguarding of musical documentary heritage.
