El motivo por el cual ?ste estudio es realizado, es dado a que el r?o Ch?palo, adem?s de ser un r?o que cruza la ciudad de Ibagu? y tiene contacto permanente con sus habitantes, es un afluente que abastece acueductos comunitarios en algunos barrios de la ciudad, adem?s, este afluente se utiliza al norte del Tolima para suministrar al sector agr?cola, por ende, con un estudio demostrando la contaminaci?n que presenta el r?o, uno de los problemas m?s relevante que nos muestra en el estudio realizado por la agencia ambiental del municipio de Ibagu? en el a?o 2010 es que se detecta gran contaminaci?n en algunos sectores del afluente, gracias a esa contaminaci?n de detecta grandes olores que no son muy agradables, que con el paso del tiempo pueden causar enfermedades a los habitantes que circunda el rio , lo cual es posible que se pueda actuar sobre el afluente y por consiguiente afectar positivamente a la ciudad, sus habitantes y personas que se abastecen de su agua. Por lo descrito, ?ste trabajo de grado tiene como objetivo general el evaluar ambientalmente la cuenca del r?o Ch?palo, teniendo en cuenta se revisan estudios realizados en el r?o y la evaluaci?n se es ejecutada ?nicamente con informaci?n secundaria que enmarque variables referentes al medio ambiente y un posible reconocimiento de campo, las metodolog?as aplicadas en este trabajo de grado, son producto de la investigaci?n llevada a cabo por el director de este trabajo de grado, quien propone el uso de las mismas en el Rio Ch?palo. Como es comprensible, la aplicaci?n de cada m?todo requiere el uso de determinado tipo de informaci?n para su adecuada ejecuci?n, por lo que es necesario disponer de una cantidad significativa de informaci?n del caso de estudio, lo que hace necesaria una revisi?n bibliogr?fica previa, y dadas las condiciones y disponibilidad de recursos, un reconocimiento de ?rea de estudio, esto con el objeto de suplir la informaci?n requerida por los m?todos para la ejecuci?n de la evaluaci?n y de aqu? determinar cu?l de ella pueden evaluar ambientalmente el r?o o alguna de sus caracter?sticas, de manera efectiva con la informaci?n disponible. Las metodolog?as asignadas, previas a la ejecuci?n de este proyecto, por el director son seis, dos de ellas basadas en m?todos de observaci?n paisaj?stica y geomorfol?gica, para las cuales se necesita una serie de datos recopilados en campo, la tercera eval?a la cobertura vegetal del r?os mediante an?lisis de im?genes satelitales, la cuarta se eval?an los flujos, con el objeto de determinar la capacidad de autopurificaci?n de las aguas del r?o, siento esta metodolog?a desarrollada para r?os canalizados urbanos , la quita metodolog?a trabajada usa informaci?n de caudales anuales, mensuales, medios y m?ximos, para determinar la calidad h?drica del r?o, por ?ltimo se pretendi? hacer la ejecuci?n de un m?todo cuyo fin es determinar la calidad del agua mediante el an?lisis de las poblaciones de macroinvertebrados acu?ticos que habitan el cauce . La aplicaci?n de las respectivas metodolog?as arroja resultados de contaminaci?n visual, deterioro o aumento de cobertura vegetal, auto purificaci?n fluvial, calidad del agua y caudal ecol?gico necesario para la subsistencia de ecosistemas a lo largo del cauce, cabe recalcar que todos estos resultados requieren informaci?n secundaria para la ejecuci?n de dichas metodolog?as. Con todas las evaluaciones listas, se procede a analizar el estado ambiental teniendo en cuenta todos los resultados y finalmente se concluye como se encuentra la cuenca y se recomiendan algunas acciones a realizar para tratar de mejorar y mitigar la contaminaci?n que en la cuenca. Este informe sirvi? como soporte para un caso de acci?n popular que lleva a cabo el consultorio jur?dico de la universidad de Ibagu?, motivo por el cual las metodolog?as de reconocimiento visual, RFV Y RQI, fueron realizadas en compa??a de los representantes que llevan el caso. Producto de este trabajo se realiz? la automatizaci?n de las metodolog?as mediante hojas de c?lculo programadas en Visual Basic, la cual hace posible la evaluaci?n de los dem?s par?metros mediante las metodolog?as que no fueron posibles aplicar cuando la informaci?n que estos requieran est? disponible.The reason why this study is carried out, it is because that the Ch?palo river, besides being a river that crosses the city of Ibagu? and has permanent contact with its inhabitants, is a tributary that supplies community aqueducts in some neighborhoods of the city , in addition, this tributary is used to the north of Tolima to supply the agricultural sector, therefore, with a study demonstrating the contamination that the river presents, one of the most relevant problems that shows us in the study carried out by the environmental agency of the municipality of Ibague in the year 2010 is that great pollution is detected in some sectors of the tributary, thanks to this contamination of large odors detected that are not very pleasant, that with the passage of time can cause diseases to the inhabitants that surrounds the river, which is possible to act on the tributary and therefore positively affect the city, its inhabitants and people who are supplied with their water. For the described, this work of degree has as a general objective the environmental assessment of the Ch?palo river basin, taking into account studies carried out in the river and the evaluation is carried out only with secondary information that frames variables related to the environment and a possible field recognition, the methodologies applied in this degree work are the product of the research carried out by the director of this degree work, who proposes the use of them in the Ch?palo River. As is understandable, the application of each method requires the use of certain types of information for its proper execution, so it is necessary to have a significant amount of information from the case study, which requires a prior bibliographic review, and given the conditions and availability of resources, a recognition of the study area, this with the purpose of supplying the information required by the methods for the execution of the evaluation and from here determining which of them can environmentally evaluate the river or any of its characteristics, effectively with the information available. The methodologies assigned, prior to the execution of this project, by the director are six, two of them based on landscape and geomorphological observation methods, for which a series of data collected in the field is needed, the third evaluates the vegetation cover of the rivers through analysis of satellite images, the fourth is evaluated flows, in order to determine the self-purification capacity of river waters, I feel this methodology developed for urban canalized rivers, the methodology removed uses information of annual, monthly, means and maximum, to determine the water quality of the river, finally it was intended to make the execution of a method whose purpose is to determine the quality of the water by analyzing the populations of aquatic macroinvertebrates that inhabit the riverbed. The application of the respective methodologies yields results of visual contamination, deterioration or increase of vegetation cover, fluvial auto purification, water quality and ecological flow necessary for the subsistence of ecosystems along the riverbed, it should be emphasized that all these results require secondary information for the execution of said methodologies. With all the evaluations ready, we proceed to analyze the environmental status taking into account all the results and finally we conclude how the basin is and we recommend some actions to be taken to try to improve and mitigate the pollution in the basin. This report served as support for a case of popular action carried out by the legal office of the University of Ibagu?, which is why the methodologies for visual recognition, RFV and RQI, were carried out in the company of the representatives who take the case. As a result of this work, the methodologies were automated through spreadsheets programmed in Visual Basic, which makes it possible to evaluate the other parameters through methodologies that were not possible to apply when the information they require is available.
