This article deals with the projects and attempts of police training that were implemented between the end of the 19th century and the second halfof the 20th century, in the National Territory of Río Negro. It analyzes theusual practices of transmission of knowledge linked to police "folklore" andthose pretensions of academically standardized training. It replaces contex-tual elements that make it possible to understand the changing institutionalstrategies and the political conjunctures to prepare the police forces for the olitical conjunctures to prepare the police forces for the metier. true El presente artículo aborda los proyectos y tentativas de formación policial que se implementaron entre fines del siglo XIX y la segunda mitad del siglo XX, en el Territorio Nacional de Río Negro. Analiza las prácticas usuales de transmisión de conocimientos vinculadas al “folklore” policial y aquellas pretensiones de formación estandarizada académicamente. Repone elementos contextuales que permiten comprender las cambiantes estrategias institucionales y de las coyunturas políticas para preparar los cuerpos policiales para el metier.
