ABSTRACT: In this article, the importance and necessity of integrating the mental health aspect in the clinical area are highlighted. This is justified having in mind that the appearance of diseases involves multi-factor aspects. Therefore, the nursing professional may take it into account within a holistic approach. Some strategies are drawn in order to integrate the mental health to the clinical área including the conceptualization of link psychiatry involving the patient, the family, the nursing staff, and the other health professionals.RESUMEN: En este artículo se resalta la importancia y necesidad de integrar el aspecto de la salud mental en el área clínica, lo cual se justifica teniendo en cuenta que el origen de las enfermedades es multifactorial y que por tanto el profesional de enfermería debe dar un cuidado con un enfoque holístico. Se delimitan algunas estrategias para integrar la salud mental al área clínica, incluyendo la conceptualización de siquiatría de enlace y teniendo en cuenta al paciente, la familia, el personal de enfermería y demás miembros del equipo de salud.
