Resumen
The prefeasibility study was carried out for the implementation of a renewable electricity
generation plant using the hydrokinetic technology with a capacity of between 5- and 10-
kW communities localized in riverside into the department of Chocó which are
characterized by being non-interconnected ZNI areas, with the aim of to continuously
supply electrical service. This work was conceived under the logical framework approach
(LFA) and UNIDO methodology, considering the difficult geography, the natural
conditions of the water resources, the scarcity of staff personnel in these peripheral
places, and the technical characteristics of the equipment considered to comply with
portability, installation, availability, and reliability criteria. The research began with the
financial support of the fund for the energization of non-interconnected areas for the
achievement of the generation equipment and the feasibility study was focused on the
administration, distribution, and operation of the plant, therefore, the sector, market,
technical, administrative, legal, environmental, financial, and risk studies were carried out.
The results obtained showed that the hydrokinetic technology in small generation
capacities is profitable, however, the NPV financial indicator of the project was low
($96,709,927.54), because, when the value earned per year is divided monthly, the
highest income is only 0.81 times the value of the SMMLV; hence, it concluded that this
initiative has a high social component.
