Resumen
Objective: To analyze the subjective meanings constructed in young residents of the city of Medellin diagnosed with depression in relation to the diagnosis of depression, pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment. Method: A qualitative descriptive-interpretative cross-sectional study is carried out; the research design is phenomenological-hermeneutic based on semi-structured interviews with 5 young people belonging to the city of Medellin who are or have been undergoing both pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment for depression. Results: The diagnosis of depression appears as the one that gives a name to a condition that did not find a name, it becomes part of the subjects, describing it as something that gives disorder to life; in social subjectivity, the close social circles are emphasized as those that give support, and the stigmatization by the more distant circles; in psychopharmacology, the bad experiences of not having a good first approach with the doses and types of medication, and the importance of the therapeutic relationship for the stability and success of the process, referring to the importance of combined therapy; in psychotherapy, the significance of having a good connection with the therapist and the tools provided to cope with the condition. Conclusion. The emergent subjective meanings are an impactful and significant experience for the subjects that ends up modifying the way they see themselves, others and their relationship dynamics, because each experience generates constant transformations in their subjective configurations.
