This essay is based on the testimonial narrative and its purpose is to share the contributions that Maestro Juan Francisco Sans had within the Fundación ConservatorioVicente Emilio Sojo (FCVES), Barquisimeto, Lara state, Venezuela, specifically in the Center for Research and Documentation in terms of local music education and hisknowledge materialized in research products published in the Universalia/Músicas Journal, created by this Center. The closeness with Sans was acquired through thisspace, serving as a vehicle to generate in­depth changes in the way of investigating and understanding the musical phenomenon, by questioning the theoretical and methodicalarguments that have sustained musicology and musical research since its beginnings. His reflections will be present throughout this paper, which I write out of eternal affection,appreciation of his important written work and respect for his musical thought.El ensayo que se presenta con base en la narrativa testimonial, tiene como propósito compartir con el lector y lectora la experiencia desarrollada en el Centro de Investigación y Documentación (CID) de la Fundación Conservatorio Vicente Emilio Sojo (Fcves), Barquisimeto, estado Lara, Venezuela, su impronta en la educación musical local y sus aportes materializados en productos investigativos publicados en la revista Universalia/Músicas, hechura también de este Centro. Así mismo, describo la proximidad breve, pero provechosa como pocas, del maestro Juan Francisco Sans en este espacio. Los que tuvimos la oportunidad de compartir con él, experimentamos cambios profundos en el modo de hacer investigación y comprender el fenómeno musical poniendo en cuestión los argumentos teóricos y de método que han sostenido a la musicología y a la investigación musical desde sus inicios. Sus reflexiones se harán presentes a lo largo de este escrito que hago desde el afecto eterno, la valoración a su importante obra escrita y el respeto hacia su pensamiento musical.
