dc.descriptionThe lower course of the river Itata is located geographically in the county of Ñuble. It is one of the most depressed sectors in the region of the Bío-Bío showing high levels of poverty, indigence, population exodus and a serious change in the stability of the natural means. This study develops a proposal of territorial planning sustained in the integral diagnosis of the geographical systems and having as indicator of the environmental state, the erosion by water of the soil. To do Ibis, homogeneous units were defined starting from the integrated analysis of the natural means (Bertrand, 1978) and the methodology of Ecological Planning was applied (Tarlet, 1985). Using this methodology, productive uses and of conservation were defined by means of the contrast of the offer and of the space demand. The results allowed to define five units (geosystems): of recent agricultural use in plain and coast platform, forest (pine-eucalyptus) of coastal mountainous cord; of old agricultural occupation and recent afforestation in cords and granitic platforms of the coast, of old agricultural use and current unirrigated land cultivation in the oriental slopes of the coastal cord; of heaths and of weak antrophic intervention at the present time (basin of Torrecillas). In these, 15,9% of the territory is in regressive evolution and 7,2% in rexistasic state. 54% of the territory is presented in balance and 22,9% in progressive evolution. Their status is associated to the level of erosion of the sol] and to the degree of antrophic occupation. The proposal of use of the basin recognizes productive uses and of conservation. In the first one, it is found the agricultural and animal use (37,2% of the territory); forest (19,4%); recreation (1%) and for dwelling (0,7%). In the second, there are defined areas that require to be managed for their recovery (28,1%) and others preserved (8,3%) for their protection. Additionally, the disagreement is verified between the good use and the existing use of the soil, especially, in areas intensely eroded, that together with the obtaining of faulty productive yields, it potentiates the processes of degradation of the natural system. This situation contributes to explain the high levels of poverty and the population exodus of the lower course of the basin
dc.descriptionEl curso inferior del río Rata se ubica geográficamente en la provincia de Nuble y representa uno de los sectores más deprimidos de la región del Bío-Bio, lo que se manifiesta en altos niveles de pobreza, indigencia, éxodo poblacional y una grave desestabilización del medio natural. El estudio, desarrolla una propuesta de planificación territorial sustentada en el diagnóstico integral de los sistemas geográficos y teniendo como indicador del estado ambiental, la erosión hídrica del suelo. Para ello se definieron unidades homogéneas a partir del análisis integrado del medio natural (Bertrand 1978) y se aplicaron los lineamientos metodológicos de Planificación Ecológica (Tarlet 1985). A través de éste se definieron usos productivos y de conservación mediante la contrastación de la oferta y de la demanda de espacio. Los resultados permitieron definir cinco unidades (geosistemas): de uso agrícola reciente en llanura y plataforma litoral; forestal (pino-eucalipto) de cordón montañoso costero; de antigua ocupación agrícola y forestación reciente en cordones y plataformas graníticas de la costa; de antiguo uso agrícola y actual cultivo de secano en la vertientes orientales del cordón costero; de matorrales y de intervención antrópica débil en la actualidad (cuenca de Torrecillas). En éstas, un 15,9 % del territorio se encuentra en evolución regresiva y un 7,2 % en rexistasia. En equilibrio se presenta el 54 % del territorio y en evolución progresiva el 22,9 %. Su estado está asociado al nivel de erosión de los suelos y al grado de ocupación antrópica. La propuesta de uso de la cuenca reconoce usos productivos y de conservación. En el primero, se encuentran el uso agrícola y ganadero (37,2 % del territorio); forestal (19,4 %); de recreación (1 %) y de habitabilidad (0,7 %). En el segundo, se definen áreas que requieren ser manejadas para su recuperación (28,1%) y otras preservadas (8,3 %) para su protección. Además, se constata la discordancia entre el uso óptimo y el uso actual del suelo, en especial, en áreas intensamente erosionadas, lo que junto con la obtención de rendimientos productivos deficientes, potencia los procesos de degradación del sistema natural. Esta situación contribuye a explicar los altos niveles de pobreza y éxodo de la población del curso inferior de la cuenca.
