| dc.description | In the present scenario of care crisis, child care shared between mothers and grandmothers has taken on greater social relevance, constituting one of the main ways to resolve family arrangements. In this context, motherhood and grandmotherhood are constructed under gender logic, configuring themselves as historically invisible and naturalized experiences in which the sexual division of labor is embodied. On this basis, the study analyzed the experiences in the construction of motherhood and grandmotherhood of mothers and grandmothers who share child care in the city of Valdivia, located in southern Chile. From a feminist epistemological perspective, a qualitative interpretative approach of a critical narrative viewpoint was assumed, centered on the perspective of experience. The results account for the structural dimensions that go through the construction of motherhoods and grandmotherhoods, highlighting gender logics, mandates around maternity, employment/family challenges and material conditions in which care is deployed. Likewise, they allow recognizing the situated character of motherhood and grandmotherhood, in cultural, territorial and historical terms. Thus, there are differences between the two generations, which reflect social processes of modernization/emancipation and various forms of selective tradition. | |
| dc.description | En el presente escenario de crisis de los cuidados, el cuidado infantil compartido entre madres y abuelas ha tomado mayor relevancia social, constituyendo una de las formas prioritarias para resolver los arreglos familiares. En este marco, las maternidades y abuelidades se construyen bajo lógicas de género, configurándose como experiencias históricamente invisibilizadas y naturalizadas en las que se encarna la división sexual del trabajo. Sobre esta base, el estudio analizó las experiencias de construcción de maternidades y abuelidades de madres y abuelas que comparten el cuidado infantil en la ciudad de Valdivia, ubicada en el sur de Chile. Desde una aproximación epistemológica feminista, se asumió un abordaje cualitativo interpretativo de enfoque narrativo crítico, centrado en la perspectiva de la experiencia. Los resultados dan cuenta de las dimensiones estructurales que atraviesan la construcción de las maternidades y abuelidades, destacándose lógicas de género, mandatos en torno a la maternidad, desafíos empleo/familia y condiciones materiales en las que se despliega el cuidado. Igualmente, permiten reconocer el carácter situado de las maternidades y abuelidades, en términos culturales, territoriales e históricos. Se encuentran, así, diferencias entre ambas generaciones, que reflejan procesos sociales de modernización/emancipación y diversas formas de tradición selectiva. | |
