The general objective of the present thesis was the synthesís of heterocyclic quinones derived from benzofuranoquinones with potential biological activity. This study begins with the synthesis of several Rhinacantone analogs, natural product with antitumor properties, using Diels-Alder reaction of benzofuranoquinone 67 with different dienes, as a key step. The regioselctive synthesis of sorne naphtofuranquinones derivates was achieved by Diels-Alder reaction bromobenzofuranoquinones 91 and 92 with dienes. Orto-naphthofuranoquinones 97 and 98 were easily obtained by rearragement of para-isomers in acid medium. All benzofuranoquinones derivatives were tested for trypanocidal, Ieishmanicidal and antitumor activity. The most active compounds were the aza quinones 90 and 96, and a probable mechanism of action was deduced. Global and local reactivity descriptors were calculated for benzofuranoquinones derivatives using the Gaussian 98 package of program. A probable correlation between anti-parasitic activity and global reactivity parameters was proposed in this thesis. Starting, from 2,3-dihydro.-2, 2-dirnethyl-7-benzofuran 66, a rnethod was developed to obtain the spirobenzofuranoquinone 118, using Ring Closing Metathesis of diene 129 as the key step.
