dc.descriptionResumen: La adicción al internet se caracteriza por la necesidad de estar en línea todo el tiempo, falta de iniciativa para realizar otras actividades, especialmente en estudiantes universitarios se ha incrementado el acceso al mismo, navegan por varias horas en sitios web y en aplicaciones de entretenimiento, esto lleva a la población estar expuesta a padecer adicción al internet, lo cual puede traer consigo problemas a nivel físico, psicológico y social. El objetivo principal del estudio fue determinar las propiedades psicométricas de la versión en español del Internet Addiction Test (IAT) en estudiantes universitarios. Se empleó un diseño de tipo instrumental, de carácter transversal, con un alcance descriptivo-correlacional. Se evaluó a 468 estudiantes, el 70,3 % fueron mujeres y el 29,7 % hombres. Los resultados indican que el IAT en su versión español tiene un Alfa de Cronbach de 0.915 y se divide en tres factores (interferencia en el estado emocional debido al excesivo uso del internet, afectación en el desenvolvimiento diario y pérdida de control de tiempo de conexión). Se concluye que es un instrumento válido y confiable, ya que, presenta adecuadas propiedades psicométricas para aplicar en el contexto ecuatoriano. Los hombres presentaron mayor adición al internet en comparación con las mujeres.es-ES
dc.descriptionAbstract: Internet addiction is characterized by the need to be online all the time, lack of initiative to perform other activities, especially in college students has increased access to it, they surf for several hours on websites and entertainment applications, this leads to the population being exposed to suffer from internet addiction, which can bring problems at physical, psychological and social level. The main objective of the study was to determine the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Internet Addiction Test (IAT) in university students. An instrumental, cross-sectional, descriptive-correlational design was used. A total of 468 students were evaluated, 70.3% were women and 29.7% were men. The results indicate that the IAT in its Spanish version has a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.915 and is divided into three factors (interference in the emotional state due to excessive use of the Internet, affectation in daily performance and loss of control of connection time). It is concluded that it is a valid and reliable instrument, since it presents adequate psychometric properties to be applied in the Ecuadorian context. Males present greater addition to the Internet compared to females.en-US
