dc.descriptionEl propósito de este estudio fue determinar la validez de la escala de respuesta inflamatoria en apendicitis aguda (AIR) en pacientes de 16 a 35 años en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Ecuador. Se realizó un estudio epidemiológico, analítico, de corte transversal mediante la aplicación de una prueba diagnóstica diseñada en la escala AIR correlacionada con hallazgo histopatológico; para lo cual se consideraron 177 pacientes. Los datos se analizaron con SPSS (24.0), utilizando medidas de tendencia central y dispersión, Sensibilidad (S), Especificidad (E), Valor predictivo positivo y negativo (VPP y VPN), Razón de verosimilitud positiva y negativa, curva ROC. La edad promedio de los participantes fue 25,11 (DS ±5,3). El 10,88% de los pacientes que tenían un puntaje de AIR ≥ 8 resultaron positivos para apendicitis aguda al análisis histopatológico. La S de AIR ≥ de 8 fue del 10%, la E = 100 %, el VPP = 100%; VPN = 18,63%.  La eficiencia del test AIR ≥ de 8 fue = 25,99%. La probabilidad de tener un resultado negativo (IAR < 8) fue del 89% (Índice verosimilitud negativo). La validez del test de AIR ≥ de 8 tiene una probabilidad baja como predictor de apendicitis aguda.es-ES
dc.descriptionThe purpose of this study was to determine the validity of the acute appendicitis inflammatory response scale (AIR) in patients aged 16 to 35 years at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, Ecuador. An epidemiological, analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out by applying a diagnostic test designed on the AIR scale correlated with histopathological findings; for which 177 patients were considered. The data is analyzed with SPSS (24.0), using measures of central tendency and dispersion, Sensitivity (S), Specificity (E), positive and negative predictive value (PPV and NPV), positive and negative likelihood ratio, ROC curve, the average age of the participants was 25.11 (SD ± 5.3). 10.58% of the patients who had an AIR score ≥ 8 were positive of acute appendicitis on histopathological analysis. AIR S ≥ 8 was 10%, E = 100%, PPV = 100%, NPV = 18.63%. The efficiency of the AIR test ≥ 8 was = 25.99%. The probability of having a negative result (AIR < 8) was 89% (negative likelihood ratio). The validity of the AIR test ≥ 8 has a low probability as a predictor of acute appendicitis. en-US
