Resumen
Addiction to psychoactive substances is closely related to anxiety and emotional intelligence.
Thus, the person may turn to drug use to deal with anxiety before falling into addiction or
leaving it; and a low level of emotional intelligence indicates a more frequent and
problematic drug use. The general objective of this research was to describe the dimensions
of emotional intelligence and anxiety levels in users with problematic drug use according to
sociodemographic variables such as age, marital status, educational level, substance
consumed and number of hospitalizations in Specialized Centers for Treatment for People
with Problematic Consumption of Alcohol and other drugs Voluntad y Fortaleza and Centro
Terapéutico Amor y Vida. The study had a quantitative approach, a non-experimental, crosssectional
design
type,

sociodemographic file made by the author. As results, it was obtained that the anxiety levels
that predominate in the users were mostly normal. In relation to the dimensions of emotional
