Resumen
The lack of knowledge about suitable tools to express the desires and needs of a community regarding their environment impacts people’s interest, especially among the youth, in participating in urban architectural design
processes. In this regard, community inclusion in design processes is a crucial aspect for creating inclusive and representative public spaces. The incorporation of playful digital tools is fundamental in urban community
design to foster active and diverse participation from the involved communities.
To achieve this objective, methodologies based on innovative technologies, such as “Block by Block” using Minecraft as a collaborative and visualization tool in a shared virtual space, are developed.“Block by Block” focuses on engaging residents, particularly interested young individuals, who consider video games as part of the methodological process. Minecraft has become valuable and popular worldwide, not only for
creating and building structures and objects in a virtual environment but also for education and learning in areas such as engineering, programming, and creativity. The research aims to explore the use of playful digital tools to develop, design, and implement a community engagement methodology that allows people to
express their opinions and visions from their perspective, in a playful and interactive manner. An architectural proposal is based on the results of the developed methodological process, to determine the contribution of playful digital tools to community participation and inclusion in urban architectural design.
