Diseño del anteproyecto de la nueva biblioteca pública para el cantón Gualaceo, Ecuador

Abstract

Gualaceo is a canton that today is in a process of expansion, for this reason in its Land Management Plan has strategic objectives aimed at the conservation of its natural and cultural heritage, seeking to create public spaces accessible to the entire community, in addition to providing equipment and infrastructure necessary to achieve balance in human settlements within the city. This is why the need to implement a public library was born as a strategy to maintain the culture and tradition of the canton linked to coexistence and social interaction through public space and natural resources. It is worth mentioning that there is currently no public library or any type of equipment related to it in the canton. That is why this project is based on the need of the municipal government with the objective of providing citizens with a space for meeting and social interaction as well as to encourage social and cultural activities that allow for the proper development of the city. To approach the project, a general analysis of the equipment and its needs was previously carried out, as well as all the necessary information that allowed us to have a clearer picture of the current state of the city, taking into account factors such as: population, age percentages, economic activities, education, among others, which were necessary for a correct resolution of the equipment based on their needs. For the architectural part, information was gathered from 5 references related to the equipment in question, for which projects that meet a series of previously established parameters were sought. Of these five, the two most relevant projects that meet most of the established criteria were selected.

Now, before the design process, it must be clear how the site is located and how its context influences it, that is why an analysis of the property was made in aspects such as: climate, topography, visuals, sunlight, winds, landscape, among other factors that are key points to address a design. Finally, taking into account everything previously analyzed, we proceeded to the design of the equipment, seeking to comply with all the criteria established to provide a space that encourages citizens to be part of it.
