Resumen
The deep bite is the excessive vertical overlap of the maxillary incisors on the mandibular incisors, the etiology of the deep bite can be genetic or dental origin, which implies a change in the mandibular growth, modifying the labial and lingual functions and dentoalveolar alterations. This narrative review analyzes the scientific literature about the effects of incisor group intrusion on deep bite. A comprehensive search was performed in the following digital databases: PubMed, Springer Link, Lilacs, and Virtual Health Library. Studies such as randomized clinical trials, descriptive studies, systematic reviews, case reports, and open-access meta-analyses are included. Articles in languages other than Spanish and English, articles that were not found in digital format, animal studies, letters to the editor, and short communications were excluded, 58 studies were included, and processed for data extraction. The use of mini-implants has less collateral effect in relation to the intrusion arches, studies have shown that the use of mini-implants during the intrusion of incisors for deep bite correction avoids the collateral effects of vestibularization of incisors and extrusion of molars caused by Intrusion arches, such as the Connecticut arch. Therefore, mini-implants would be used for true intrusion and the Connecticut arch for intrusion and vestibularization of the incisor group
