Resumen
The country's Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage is an important element of teachinglearning in the educational sphere, especially in the subject of Cultural and Artistic Education,
which allows us to learn about, practice, represent and value the cultural diversity of Ecuador.
The 2016 curriculum issued by the Ministry of Education allows many advantages of flexibility
within the teaching-learning process, with the implementation of active methodologies within the
classes, didactic and methodological processes during the three moments established in the
class: anticipation, construction and consolidation, to create meaningful learning from the first to
the last moment of the classes developed with the students. In this sense, the diablada de Píllaro
is a celebration of utmost importance, which allows to establish the identity and belonging of the
territory, reviving its social vindication regarding the abuses and mistreatment endured by the
indigenous people of the hacienda system of the colonial era, impregnating the villagers with
power and courage transmitted through the dances and representations of the different
characters, taking into account that the Devil with his mask is the character who plays a
predominant role by granting anonymity and giving free rein to his imagination in the dance and
his actions. As a result, the students have created and handcrafted the masks of the devils of
Píllaro using traditional craft techniques made in the canton of Píllaro, in order to learn about,
implement and rescue the work of artisans and the intangible heritage of Ecuador.
