Resumen
Background: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) affect all professions, causing large economic losses, mostly due to the lack of knowledge and prevention by companies and workers.
Object: To determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorder and the intensity of pain in the taxi drivers of the company El Padron S.A, in Cuenca, during March – August 2023.
Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out with 27 taxi drivers of the company El Padrón S.A. For the data collection, the Standardized Nordic Questionnaire and the Visual Analog Scale were used. Data were collected and analyzed using programs such as KoboToolbox and SPSS 22.0. The demographic variables were represented in tables using frequencies and percentages, and to look for association of these variables based on prevalence with a confidence interval of 95% and statistical significance, chi square was used.
Results: It was observed that the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders was higher in the lower back (81.48%), all males with mild pain. The variables relationships did not show a statistically significant relationship (p ≥0.05).
Conclusion: In our research, after applying the Standardized Nordic Questionnaire to a total of 27 taxi drivers, it was concluded that the greatest area of discomfort is the lumbar spine, presenting mild pain. Those aged 21-39 years are the ones who work full- time from 3 to 10 years.
