The present work is based in the investigation of the current management of the solid waste of the Hospital of Specialties Abel Gilbert Pontón; in all the concerning one to its generation, correct storage, manipulation, final disposal and treatments that are given to the solid waste inside the Hospital. The lack of appropriate procedures could cause serious bodily injuries and serious infections to the personnel that work in the health center, to the patients and the community in general. The present research is based on the adaptation of methodologies proposed by national and international institutions, which have been developed based on the experiences of institutions and norms of several countries. This way a consultation tool will be provided (Program of improvements to the management of solid waste), for the future implementation of improvements in the management of solid waste, and that this way to be able to guarantee the right for the patients, the relatives and the workers of the health, to work and to live in an atmosphere without risks of contamination.
