Resumen
The importance of understanding earthquake-resistant structures is significant in Ecuador due to the frequency of seismic activity occurring there each year. However, it is not possible to experience an earthquake on a real structure to study its response. Therefore, the objective of this project is to construct a vibrating table that can be used by Civil Engineering students at the Salesian Polytechnic University, Guayaquil Campus, to practice building earthquake-resistant structures and improve the quality of constructions in the population. Results were delivered. The machine development process was carried out in four well-defined stages. In the first stage, an exhaustive analysis was conducted to determine the project’s requirements and objectives. In the second stage, the machine was designed according to the results obtained in the previous phase. In the third stage, the actual machine development was carried out, putting into practice all the previously elaborated ideas and designs. Finally, an evaluation stage was carried out to ensure that the project met the initial requirements and objectives. Lastly, three practical guides were conducted in collaboration with Civil Engineering students and engineers. These guides allowed for a more exhaustive evaluation of the project and obtain demonstrated results.
