Resumen
This study focuses on comparing the behavior of corroded reinforcing steel and steel under normal conditions, using the tensile test for both cases. The results obtained from the tensile test allowed the identification of the percentage reduction in the strength of the reinforcing steel due to corrosion caused by environmental factors, present in each of the specimens analyzed. Trend lines corresponding to the weight-length ratio of each specimen were identified, with a difference of 11.59% between the corroded rods and the value of the manufacturer's technical data sheet. From the analysis, uniformity was found in the points of the weight-length graph of the steel under normal conditions; unlike the corroded steel where the marked dispersion of the data collected presents a variation coefficient of 5.57%. On the other hand, one of the mechanical properties analyzed corresponds to the yield strength, which exhibits similarity in the two types of samples. In the flexural test, prismatic beam-type elements made of simple and reinforced concrete were used, obtaining in the simple concrete specimens the maximum load and modulus of rupture. For the reinforced concrete specimens with steel without corrosion, the homogeneity in the values of maximum loads and deformations was distinguished. With the results obtained, it was possible to appreciate the decrease in the resistance of corroded steel exposed to environmental factors in a range of 5 to 10 years.
