Resumen
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program proposes a teaching approach based on
pedagogical principles and a learning approach to compound essential skills that students
must develop. Considering these characteristics, this research analyzes the teaching and
learning approaches to study in the mentioned program. In addition, this research intended to
diagnose the validity of these teaching and learning approaches. Finally, this investigation
proposed a guide for teachers on the use of these teaching and learning approaches in the
classroom. To obtain the necessary information, the researcher used a mixed approach
(qualitative and quantitative), whose scope is descriptive, with a theoretical foundation carried
out through the synthetic analytical method and selected bibliographic and web resources to
support and contextualize the research. The triangulation method was used to carry out the
diagnosis, and a survey was applied to teachers and coordinators of the Diploma Program.Finally, a rubric was built and it can be used in different educational institutions to verify the
status of the development of the learning and teaching approaches proposed by the Diploma
Program in the International Baccalaureate.
