dc.descriptionThis article analyzes the use of Moodle as a complementary tool to help in the work of higher education at the Technical University of Babahoyo UTB. Virtual learning environments constitute an academic tool that perfects the learning process, being a fundamental didactic resource in the daily curricular activities of teachers, who have become virtual tutors that create opportunities, a guide for students who are the part central to the teaching-learning process, students become virtual tutors whose main support is self-learning, the internet and their computer. In order to demonstrate the results, a field study was carried out with a sample of 211 teachers, including tenured and contracted from the total population, which is 463 from the UTB. Teachers are trained in 72.04% in the design, management and use of Moodle, they think that it helped them to improve in the teaching-learning process in 87.20%, through interactive resources such as: forums, videos and chats, but there are disadvantages such as: file size limits, problems with the platform and the internet. But, without a doubt there are benefits such as: better interaction with the student, greater flow of information, improved collaborative learning and, above all, flexibility in time and coverage. Finally, the conclusions of the present investigation are exposed to promote new questions susceptible of future investigations.en-US
dc.descriptionEl presente artículo analiza el uso de Moodle como una herramienta complementaria para ayudar en la labor de la docencia superior de la Universidad Técnica de Babahoyo UTB. Los entornos virtuales de aprendizaje constituyen una herramienta académica que perfecciona el proceso de aprendizaje, siendo un recurso didáctico fundamental en las actividades curriculares diarias de los docentes, que se han transformado en tutores virtuales creadores de oportunidades, un guía para los estudiantes quienes son la parte central del proceso enseñanza aprendizaje, los alumnos pasan a ser tutoriados virtuales cuyo soporte principal es el autoaprendizaje, el internet y su computadora. Para evidenciar los resultados se realizó un estudio de campo con una muestra de 211 docentes entre titulares y contratados del total de la población que es de 463 de la UTB. Los docentes están capacitados en un 72,04% en el diseño, manejo y uso del Moodle, piensan que les ayudado a mejorar en el proceso enseñanza aprendizaje en un 87,20%, mediante recursos interactivos como: foros, vídeos y chats, pero existen desventajas como: límite del tamaño de los archivos, problemas con la plataforma y el internet. Pero, sin duda se tiene beneficios como: mejor interacción con el alumno, mayor flujo de información, mejora el aprendizaje colaborativo y sobretodo flexibilidad en el tiempo y su cobertura. Finalmente, se exponen las conclusiones de la presente investigación para promover nuevas interrogantes susceptibles de investigaciones futuras.es-ES
