Resumen
Head injuries are frequent reasons for consultations in the units. Most are minor trauma. Trauma in turn can cause serious and fatal injuries. Since the anatomical characteristics of the child make him more prone to suffer an intracranial injury. The present work leads to the development of a clinical case study on head trauma in a 3-year-old patient, children being one of the main affected. This case is presented at the Venus de Valdivia Type “C” Maternal and Child Health Center in the City of Santa Elena, La Libertad Parish. A theoretical framework is deepened where the information about head trauma reported by different authors is investigated. Head trauma is and will continue to be a frequent reason for pediatric emergency department visits. Therefore, the present clinical case is focused on the analysis of head trauma, based on the patient's medical history, and on the follow-up of health personnel for its improvement.
