Efecto de arteterapia y estimulación cognitiva en adultos mayores en fases preclínicas de demencia

Resumen
Objetivo: Se propuso analizar el efecto de un programa de intervención no farmacológica de estimulación cognitiva (EC) y arteterapia (AT) en adultos mayores en fases preclínicas de demencia. Materiales y método: se utilizó un diseño cuasiexperimental de medidas repetidas factorial mixta. La muestra final estuvo compuesta por 13 participantes, divididos en dos grupos homogéneos. La intervención fue aplicada a cada grupo de forma paralela. Al grupo 1 (G1) se le aplicó arteterapia (AT) y al grupo 2 (G2) estimulación cognitiva (EC), una vez finalizada esta etapa se procedió a una evaluación neuropsicológica intermedia. Posteriormente se intercambió el tratamiento: el G1 recibió EC y el G2, AT. Finalmente se evaluó a ambos grupos. Resultados: se observó mejoras significativas en memoria de trabajo y fluidez semántica y fonológica. Los cambios fueron más notorios en el grupo que inició con EC y culminó con AT. Conclusiones: este estudio muestra la importancia del trabajo con estrategias no farmacológicas en el tratamiento de pacientes en fases preclínicas de demencia.
