This work makes visible the role played by the Juan Santamaría Cultural Historical Museum, in the custody of historical and archaeological collections related to the Costa Rican past. A brief history of the Museum's collections is highlighted as well as an in-depth analysis of the La Trinidad-Sarapiquí collection in order to encouraging future research.En este trabajo se visibiliza el papel jugado por el Museo Histórico Cultural Juan Santamaría en la custodia de colecciones históricas y arqueológicas relacionadas al pasado costarricense. Se destaca una breve historia de las colecciones del Museo y se profundiza en el análisis de la colección La Trinidad-Sarapiquí con el objetivo de incentivar futuras investigaciones.
