dc.descriptionDental caries is the world's oral disease with the highest prevalence in children and adults. Caries is an infectious and preventable disease where a variety of risk factors interact, such as: the cariogenic diet, poor oral hygiene habits, low buffer capacity of saliva, dental crowding, socioeconomic stratum, among others, coupled with a large variety of microorganisms, mainly the Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans), considered as the main colonizing microorganism of the biofilm and initiator of the carious process and of which a higher prevalence has been observed at present.
dc.descriptionLa caries dental es a nivel mundial la enfermedad bucal de mayor prevalencia tanto en niños como en adultos. La caries es una enfermedad infecciosa y prevenible donde interactúan una diversidad de factores de riesgo como lo son: la dieta cariogénica, malos hábitos de higiene bucal, baja capacidad buffer de la saliva, apiñamiento dental, estrato socioeconómico, entre otros, aunado a una gran variedad de microorganismos, principalmente el Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans), considerado como el principal microorganismo colonizador del biofilm e iniciador del proceso carioso y del que se ha observado actualmente una mayor prevalencia.
