In this paper I present the results of a qualitative research whose objective was to describe the social background and its influence on the school careers of two PhD students. The interviews were conducted with the students to know the characteristics of their environment, such as family income, customs, schools in which they were enrolled, the occupation of their parents and siblings and their school achievement. One interviewee is originally from Nayarit, and the other was born and has evolved most of his life in Tepatitlan, Jalisco. Pierre Bourdieu’s theoretical proposal is used to explain aspects such as Financial Capital, Cultural Capital, Social Origin, Habitus and Symbolic Capital.
Resumen
En este trabajo se presentan los resultados de una investigación cualitativa cuyo objetivo fue describir la trayectoria social y su influencia en la trayectoria escolar de dos alumnos de Doctorado. Se realizaron entrevistas a profundidad con los estudiantes para conocer las características de su entorno, tales como la familia, los ingresos, las costumbres, las escuelas en las que se inscribieron, la ocupación de sus padres y hermanos y sus logros escolares. Uno de los entrevistados es originario de Nayarit, y el otro nació y se ha desenvuelto la mayor parte de su vida en la propia Tepatitlán, Jalisco. Para este trabajo se retoma la propuesta teórica de Pierre Bourdieu sobre Capital Financiero, Capital Cultural, Origen Social, Habitus y Capital Simbólico. | |
