dc.descriptionThis chapter examines irrigation District 19 (DR 19), in the coastal plain of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca, State. This district encompasses the municipalities of Asuncion Ixtlaltepec, El espinal, Juchitán, San Blas Atempa, San Pedro Comitancillo, San Pedro Huilotepec, Jalapa de Marquez Santa Maria Mixtequilla, Santa Maria Xadani, Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, and Union Hidalgo, Juchitán is the largest, with more than half of the district's irrigated land and 30 percent of the growers who make use of the irrigation system.
