| dc.description | El escritor francés Ernest Renan (1823-1892) tuvo mucha influencia en América Latina. Al principio por su interpretación Jesucristo (1863), que polarizó la opinión debido a motivos religiosos; más tarde se apreció mucho su estilo y su erudición; hubo más adelante círculos conservadores que se inspiraron en sus ideas sobre la nación y el gobierno de las élites. Después fue perdiendo prestigio y ya a mediados del siglo XX era poco leído y empezó a recibir ataques debido a sus posiciones elitistas y racistas. | |
| dc.description | French writer Ernest Renan (1823-1892) had a profound influence on Latin America. In a beginning it was due to his interpretation of Jesus Christ (1863) wich, for religious reasons, polarized opinions; afterwards, his style and his erudition were greatly appreciated, and later on, some conservative circles were inspired by his ideas on nation and the government of the elite. Finally his acceptance went through a decline and, by mid-20th century, his texts were scarcely read and he started being attacked because of his elitist and racist stances. | |
