Research about physical activity and sports is generally framed within medical discourse, which promotes the practice of sports as a way to reduce the probability of cardiac, respiratory, and metabolic pathologies. Even though this type of discourse are important, for a long time has been neglected or has not given the importance of sports to reduce risks of health. This article presents a set of research projects that evidence the benefits of sports in terms of socialization processes, mental processes, academic achievement, and the overall improvement of life-quality.
