dc.description | "A field study was conducted in 2003 and 2004 years at the experimental
field of the Instituto Tecnológico Agropecuario No. 10. The first year was
evaluated the influence of three evapotranspiration (ET) levels and three plant
densities (PD), using subsurface tape, on the yield and quality of corn forage.
The treatments consisted of three ET levels (60, 80 and 100 %) and three PD
(80, 120 y 160 thousands plants ha-1) and one control treatment (surface
irrigation). The experimental design was a split plot with main plots (irrigation
treatments) in randomized complete blocks and the three plant densities
(subplots) randomly arranged as split plots over each of the main plots.
Significant differences were not found among irrigation treatments and plant
densities, for the evaluated variables a except for water use efficiency.
x
In 2004 growth analysis was carried out to evaluate plant community growth of
the commercial hybrids corn NOVASEM 9620 and 9616 under differentially
irrigated through drip irrigation system (SDI) to determine their growth dynamic,
production efficiency and biomass distribution were obtained from the plant
sampling data realized at 46, 56, 67 and 80 days after planting (DAP). The
irrigation treatments evaluated consisted of three evapotranspiration levels (ET)
(60, 80 and 100 %) and two corn hybrids. The experimental design was a split
plot in randomized complete block and four replications. Two plants per plot
were collected in every sampling, to determine plant leaf area, total dry matter
and dry weight of vegetative and fructiferous organs. The plant components of
the harvested samples were used to estimate crop growth rate (CGR), net
assimilation rate (NAR), leaf area index (LAI), leaf area ratio (LAR), specific leaf
area (SLA) and leaf weight ratio (LWR). The statistical analysis detected
differences between levels (ET) for LAR, SLA, and LWR. There was not found
significant difference between hybrids. However, the 9620 hybrid showed the
tendency to greater LAI, and accumulated more total biomass and vegetative
and reproductive organs biomass than hybrid 9616. During the sampled period,
9620 hybrid also had the tendency to higher values of CGR and NAR. The
hybrids had similar LAR values, which indicate that independently from hybrid
plants, give the same percentage of photo assimilated to foliar structure.
Significant difference was detected for the ET. The treatments that received
more water (100 % ET) had the higher values of LWR."
