dc.descriptionOne century after the heyday of the inter-oceanic crossing through the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, where huge volumes of goods were moved between the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans, the dawn of the 21st Century brings with it an interest in implementing a project, called Isthmus of Tehuantepec Logistic System, aimed at repositioning this southeastern Mexican region as a significant mobility hub linked to globalization's modern transportation networks. In this sense, this article aims to provide elements for the analysis of a potential multimodal corridor through the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, based on a structural-systemic approach which emphasizes the geo-economic determinations of a global area of networks and flows made up of production chains fragmented on a continental and/or planetary scale, whose integration requires new forms of transportation and communication.
dc.descriptionDespués de un siglo de la época de mayor esplendor del cruce interoceánico del istmo de Tehuantepec, por donde llegaron a circular grandes volúmenes de mercancías entre el océano Pacífico y el Atlántico, en los albores del siglo xxi se busca implementar el proyecto Sistema Logístico del Istmo de Tehuantepec, para volver a posicionar a esta región del sureste mexicano como un eje relevante de movilidad articulado a las modernas redes de transporte de la globalización. En este sentido, el objetivo del presente trabajo es aportar elementos para el análisis de la posible construcción de un corredor multimodal en el istmo de Tehuantepec, a la luz de un enfoque estructural-sistémico, que pone énfasis en las determinaciones geoeconómicas de un espacio global de redes y flujos, configurado por cadenas productivas fragmentadas a escala continental o planetaria, cuya integración requiere de nuevas formas de transporte y comunicación.
