dc.descriptionLa investigación tuvo como finalidad evaluar la efectividad de hongos entomopatógenos sobre la cochinilla silvestre del nopal Dactylopius opuntiae (Cockerell) como una estrategia alternati-va de control. El estudio se dividió en dos capítulos principales: en el primero se abordaron aspectos de patogenicidad con el objetivo de determinar la efectividad de hongos sobre la co-chinilla. Para ello, se probaron dos aislamientos de cada una de las siguientes especies Metarhi-zium anisopliae, Beauveria bassiana y Lecanicillium lecanii. Con la información recabada en la primera fase, se consideró oportuno evaluar los tres aislamientos que presentaron los mejores resultados sobre la mortalidad de ninfas de cochinilla. Los resultados mostraron que los hon-gos M. anisopliae y L. lecanii pueden infectar y ser efectivos contra la cochinilla en condicio-nes de laboratorio. El aislamiento Ma 130, perteneciente a la especie M. anisopliae presentó la mayor virulencia que se determinó por medio de la CL50 con un valor de 6.63 x 107 conidios mL-1 . Se concluye en que aislamientos de hongos entomopatógenos pueden ser considerados en la integración de planes de planes de manejo de la cochinilla silvestre del nopal.
dc.descriptionABSTRACT. The objective of the research was to evaluate the effectiveness of entomopathogenic fungi on the wild cochineal Dactylopius opuntiae (Cockerell) as an alternative control strategy. The study was divided into two main chapters: the first dealt with aspects of pathogenicity with the objective of determining the effectiveness of fungi on the cochineal. For this purpose, two isolates of each of the following species Metarhizium anisopliae, Beauveria bassiana and Lecanicillium lecanii were tested. With the information collected in the first phase, it was considered opportune to evaluate the three isolates that presented the best results on the mortality of cochineal nymphs. The results showed that the fungi M. anisopliae and L. lecanii can infect and be effective against the cochineal under laboratory conditions. The isolation Ma 130, belonging to the species M. anisopliae presented the highest virulence that was determined by means of the LC50 with a value of 6.63 x 107 conidia mL-1. It is concluded that isolates of entomopathogenic fungi can be considered in the integration of plans of management of wild cochineal.
