dc.descriptionEl Programa Pueblos Mágicos fue creado por iniciativa del gobierno federal mexicano, ha sido instrumentado por la Secretaría de Turismo para lograr los objetivos de desarrollo económico y promover el turismo en zonas rurales a través de optimizar el aprovechamiento racional de atractivos locales, que contribuyan a elevar los niveles de bienestar, mantener y acrecentar el empleo y hacer rentable la inversión. Estrategia que no siempre ha incorporado a la población local; es por ello que la investigación tiene como objetivo, conocer los resultados que el programa ha obtenido en la localidad de Cuetzalan del Progreso, Puebla, a través del turismo desde el 2002, con una perspectiva teórica del desarrollo local que deriva en una metodología descriptiva – cualitativa, para concluir con la identificación de aquellos sectores de la población que han sido beneficiados (económica, social y culturalmente) por el turismo, como los hoteles, restaurantes, comercio establecido y guías turísticos; así como aquellos que no reportan ningún tipo de beneficio como la población en general, los artesanos y vendedores ambulantes que muestran descontento e insatisfacción con el ejercicio turístico de Cuetzalan según los resultados que exponen la veracidad de los efectos que el Programa Pueblos Mágicos ha traído. Todo esto a través de la aplicación de 86 encuestas de percepción. _______________ THE MAGIC TOWN PROGRAM AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT IN CUETZALAN DEL PROGRESO, PUEBLA. ABSTRACT: The Magical Towns Program was created at the initiative of the mexican federal government, it has been implemented by the Ministry of Tourism to achieve the objectives of economic development and promote tourism in rural areas by optimizing the rational use of local attractions, which contribute to raise standard wellness, maintain and increase employment and make the investment profitable. Strategy that has not always considered the local population; that is why the research aims, the results that the program has obtained in the town of Cuetzalan del Progreso, Puebla through tourism since 2002, with a theoretical perspective on the theory of local development resulting in a descriptive - qualitative methodology, concluding with the identification of those sectors of the population that have been benefited (economic, social and cultural) from tourism as hotels, restaurants, established commerce and tourist guiders; as well as those who do not report any benefit like the general population, artisans and peddlers that demonstrate discontent and dissatisfaction with the tourism industry of Cuetzalan according to results that expose the truth of the effects that Magic Towns Program has brought. All of this through the application of 86 perception surveys.
