| dc.description | En este estudio se tuvo como objetivo evaluar, con una perspectiva de cuencas, la condición ecológica del río Nexapa. Además de la tradicional evaluación de la calidad de agua del río, se consideró la evaluación de la condición de hábitat ribereño e indicadores bióticos, a través de índices de condición del río. Para la calidad del agua, se midieron parámetros fisicoquímicos y coliformes totales y fecales en 20 sitios, obteniéndose un Índice de Calidad del Agua (ICA). La condición ecológica del hábitat ribereño se evalúo a través de un Índice de Condición de Hábitat (ICH), mientras que el indicador biótico se basó en la presencia o ausencia de macroinvertebrados, para estimar el Índice Biótico de Hilsenhoff (IBH). Se encontró una condición de calidad del agua pobre para todos los sitios, mientras que para la condición de hábitat ribereño un sitio tuvo condición pobre, 16 condición media y tres condiciones buenas. De acuerdo al IBH, cuatros sitios tienen una condición muy contaminada y la presencia de macroinvertebrados en ellos fue nula; 10 sitios fueron clasificados con condición pobre, uno con condición muy pobre, uno con condición regular y tres con condición muy buena. Se concluyó que, en general, el río Nexapa presenta una condición ecológica deteriorada, aunque se observan diferencias en esta condición a través del río, asociadas principalmente a la localización de las descargas de aguas residuales. _______________ ASSESSMENT OF THE ECOLOGICAL CONDITION OF THE NEXAPA RIVER IN THE CHIETLA SUBWATERSHED, PUEBLA, MEXICO. ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to assess, with a watershed perspective, the ecological condition of the Nexapa River. In addition to the traditional evaluation of the river water quality, the assessment of the riparian habitat condition and biotic indicators was considered, through river condition indices. For water quality, physicochemical parameters and total and faecal coliforms were measured in 20 sampling sites, obtaining a Water Quality Index (ICA). The ecological condition of the riparian habitat was assessed through a Habitat Condition Index (ICH), while the biotic indicator was based on the presence or absence of macroinvertebrates, to estimate the Hilsenhoff Biotic Index (IBH). A condition of poor water quality was found for all sites, while for the riparian habitat condition one site had poor condition, 16 medium condition and three good conditions. According to the IBH, four sites have a very contaminated condition and the presence of macroinvertebrates in them was null; 10 sites were classified as poor, one with a very poor condition, one with a regular condition and three with a very good condition. It was concluded that, in general, the Nexapa River presents a deteriorated ecological condition, although there are differences in this condition across the river, mainly associated with the location of the wastewater discharges. | |
