The following paper will present the preliminary results of a research work through a scholarship as a student aimed to describe the social representations of the immigrant population that appear in news from the newspapers La Nación, Página 12, Crónica and Clarín that address the issue of the current Access of immigrant to the public health system of Argentina, that were published between 28/02/2018 and 01/03/2018. It is assumed that, even though the current legislation recognize in an unrestricted way and regardless of the legal situation of the individual the right to access to public education and public health care, there still are social representations and discourse that legitimize stigmatize practices from the “native” group to the “foreign” group.
Through the main objective of describe the social representations about the immigration that appear in the mass media and the relation with social discourses that legitimate them, it’s have been designed an exploratory and descriptive study, from a qualitative approach. The theoretical framework is both of constructionist (Burr, 1994) and dialogic (Markova, 2000) nature, thus it have been created a design made of methodology from the Theory of Social Representation (Moscovici, 1979) and from Discourse Analysis (Fairclough, 1993; Van Dijk, 1991; Pardo, 2011).
