Este artículo ofrece una síntesis de algunas investigaciones relevantes acerca de la histogénesis, factores moleculares y mecanismos de expansión del quiste periapical y de los quistes inflamatorios realizada por otros autores y que soportan nuestro proyecto de investigación, evidenciando científicamente nuestros resultados acerca del Quiste Periapical y del Quiste Folicular Inflamatorio como patologías reactivas. En los quistes epiteliales pueden reconocerse fases de desarrollo, y en su histogénesis de destacan mediadores inflamatorios, factores de crecimiento y moléculas de señalización. El QFI es una lesión quística inflamatoria, equiparable a los quistes paradentales, o quistes periapicales de acuerdo a su histopatología, mecanismos de expansión y estroma reactivo, distinguiéndose del Quiste Dentígero de desarrollo. La imagenología de las lesiones radiolúcidas de los huesos maxilares puede compartir muchas características, lo que puede dificultar el diagnóstico y la elección de tratamientos oportunos. La confirmación diagnóstica mediante la histopatología es fundamental para poder definir un plan de tratamiento.This article offers a synthesis of some relevant research on histogenesis, molecular factors and expansion mechanisms of the periapical cyst and inflammatory cysts carried out by other authors and that support our research project, scientifically evidencing our results about the Periapical Cyst and the Inflammatory Follicular Cyst as reactive pathologies. In epithelial cysts, phases of development can be recognized, and their histogenesis shows inflammatory mediators, growth factors, and signaling molecules. IFC is an inflammatory cystic lesion, comparable to paradental cysts, or periapical cysts according to their histopathology, expansion mechanisms and reactive stroma, distinguishing itself from the developmental Dentigerous Cyst. The imaging of radiolucent lesions of the jaw bones can share many characteristics, which can make diagnosis and the choice of timely treatments difficult.
