El objetivo fue analizar la ubicación del género Asynonychus en la clasificación jerárquica de la tribu Naupactini, subfamilia Brachyderinae, definir cuáles especies corresponden a este género, ampliar sus descripciones, ilustrar las estructuras de mayor valor diagnóstico, resolver los problemas nomenclaturales y actualizar los datos de distribución geogra'fica y plantas hospedadoras. Los resultados indican que las especies de Asynonychus constituyen un grupo separado de Pantomorus, cuyos principales caracteres diagnósticos se refieren a la forma de la espermateca, convexidad de los ojos y conformación del rostro. Dichas especies son A. cervinus (Boheman, 1840); A. godmanni Crotch, 1987; A. conirostris (Hustache. 1947); A. biseriatus (Hustache, 1947) y el denominado Grupo de A. durius (Germar. 1824).The purpose of the present study is to analyse the location of the genus Asynonychus in the hierarchic classification of the tribe Naupactini, subfamily Brachyderinae. to state which species belong to it, to enlarge its descriptions, to ilústrate the structures of major diagnostic value, to solve the nomenclatural problems and to analize the data of geographical distribution and host plants. The results indicate that Asynonychus constitute a separate group of Pantomorus whose main diagnostic characteristics refer to the shape of the spermatheca, curvature of eyes and conformation of the rostrum. These species are A. cervinus (Boheman, 1840); A. godmanni Crotch, 1876; A. conirostris (Hustache, 1947); A. biseriatus (Hustache, 1947) and the group named A.durius (Germar, 1824).Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo
