The research addresses the railway cultural heritage found outside institutional protection due to its extension conditions, that constitute railway cultural routes with the necessary conditions from its material instance and collective memory, for its denomination as heritage landscapes. The railway cultural route refers to its socioterritorial perspective, its name is based on a current cultural element in the construction of citizenship. We problematize from the critical theory for the investigation of the San Rafael and Atlixco Railway (1898-1930)  from the complex look of the space that implies the environment, the material heritage, and its evocation, from the contemporary collective memory.La investigación aborda al patrimonio cultural ferroviario hallado fuera de resguardo institucional por sus condiciones de extensión, que constituyen rutas culturales ferroviarias con las condiciones necesarias desde su instancia material y memoria colectiva, para su denominación como paisajes patrimoniales. La ruta cultural ferroviaria refiere a su mirada socioterritorial, su denominación se fundamenta como elemento cultural vigente en la construcción de ciudadanías. Problematizamos desde la teoría crítica para la investigación del Ferrocarril San Rafael y Atlixco (1898-1930), desde la mirada compleja del espacio que implica el entorno, el patrimonio material y su evocación, desde la memoria colectiva contemporánea.
