Asymmetry, understood as the deviation of an organism or a part of it from its perfect symmetry, is represented by three categories: fluctuating asymmetry, directional asymmetry, and anti-symmetry. Fluctuating asymmetry constitutes the random variation in both directions of a morphological character. The more environmental or genetic stress, the greater the effect of fluctuating asymmetry. This study aimed to determine the type of cranial asymmetry in dogs with different head conformation: brachycephalic (n=19), mesocephalic (n=9) and dolichocephalic (n=22). A set of 17 anatomical landmarks (3 sagittal and 7 paired) were selected in the digital images of the basal skull, which were studied using geometric morphometry techniques. The results showed similar fluctuating asymmetry percentages in the three types of skulls studied.La asimetría, entendida como la desviación de un organismo o una parte de él de su simetría perfecta, está representada por tres categorías: la asimetría fluctuante, la asimetría direccional y la antisimetría. La asimetría fluctuante constituye la variación aleatoria en ambos sentidos de un carácter morfológico. A más estrés, ambiental o genético, mayor efecto sobre la asimetría fluctuante. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar el tipo de asimetría craneal en perros de diferente conformación cefálica: braquicéfalos (n=19), mesocéfalos (n=9) y dolicocéfalos (n=22). Para ello, se seleccionaron 17 hitos anatómicos (3 sagitales y 7 pareados) en las imágenes digitales de la base del cráneo, que se estudiaron mediante técnicas de morfometría geométrica. Los resultados mostraron unos porcentajes de asimetría fluctuante similares en los tres tipos de cráneos estudiados.
