Resumen
Unlike Latin America, the East Asian region is composed of a group of developedeconomies that practices a pragmatic combination of state interventions andliberalization within a permanent framework of state institutional quality. It isworth noting that some East Asian economies, such as Japan, enjoyed rapid economicsuccess; while others required the employment of additional measuresto improve that framework in advance. This book evaluates the contributionof that framework to the economic success of the most developed East Asianeconomies, such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and, recently, China. Finally, some lessons on improving state institutional qualitywill be proposed for Latin American countries.
