Work carried out by Honorio Pinto with selected documents from the Archive of the Ministry of Development, presents the figures about production, export, domestic consumption, prices, number of personnel and current wages in the cotton industry during the first half of the 20th century, activity of great importance in the economic history of the country. Although the work presents some limitations such as the lack of uniformity in the figures of some tables, a reflection of the contradictions of the official sources consulted, it represents a valuable stimulus to the investigation of the subject. Likewise, it has an analytical index of great help to avoid any difficulties that may arise in reading the statistical tables.Trabajo efectuado por Honorio Pinto con documentos seleccionados del Archivo del Ministerio de Fomento, presenta las cifras acerca de la producción, exportación, consumo interno, precios, cantidad de personal y remuneraciones corrientes en la industria del algodón durante la primera mitad del siglo XX, actividad de gran importancia en la historia económica del país. Si bien el trabajo presenta algunas limitaciones como la falta de uniformidad en las cifras de algunos cuadros, reflejo de las contradicciones de las fuentes oficiales consultadas, representa un valioso estímulo a la investigación del tema. Asimismo, cuenta con un índice analítico de gran ayuda para evitar cualquier dificultad que pueda presentarse en la lectura de los cuadros estadísticos.
