dc.descriptionThe Spanish conquest meant a process of miscegenation in America and the appearance of ideas around it; from attitudes of contempt of Hispanics to­wards mestizos, to identity claims such as that of the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega (17th century). The trajectory of miscegenation has been studied from various disciplines, but the “ideologies of miscegenation” have been only partially explained. The transition from the Colony to the Republic meant changes and continuities in the images about the mestizo. The advent of Eu­ropean racialist ideas, and the urge to create a racially and culturally homo­geneous nation in the new Creole states, allowed the development of certain ideologies of miscegenation, where some historians were important promot­ers in countries such as Peru. From a cultural history and mainly intellectual history approach, we propose to analyze this topic.en-US
dc.descriptionLa conquista española supuso un proceso de mestizajes en América y la apa­rición de ideas alrededor de este; desde actitudes de desprecio de los hispanos hacia los mestizos, hasta reivindicaciones identitarias como la del Inca Garci­laso de la Vega (s. XVII). La trayectoria del mestizaje ha sido estudiada desde varias disciplinas, pero las “ideologías del mestizaje”, solo explicadas par­cialmente. El tránsito de la Colonia a la República supuso cambios y continui­dades en las imágenes sobre el mestizo. El advenimiento de las ideas raciales europeas, y el apremio por crear una nación racial y culturalmente homogé­nea en los nuevos Estados criollos, permitió el desarrollo de ciertas ideologías del mestizaje, donde algunos historiadores fueron importantes promotores en países como el Perú. Desde un enfoque de historia cultural y principalmente historia intelectual, nos proponemos analizar este tema.es-ES
