dc.descriptionIn July 1926 and the following months, the disagreement between the Catholic Church and the Government of General Plutarco Elías Calles was exacerbated by the publication of a law punishing offences committed in the exercise of religious worship. This article proposes a review of the reasons that prevented reconciling the positions of the State and the episcopate during the development of the conflict between the Church and the State in Mexico between 1926 and 1929, focusing on the ideas and belief systems that motiva­ted the actuation of both groups. Among them, the adherence of the Callista government to the reason of the State and the Mexican clergy to conscience stands out, such as tho­se concepts that sustained their positions and prevented the conflict from being stopped.en-US
dc.descriptionEn julio de 1926 y los meses siguientes, el diferendo entre la Iglesia católica y el gobierno del general Plutarco Elías Calles se exacerbó por la publicación de una ley que castigaba penalmente delitos cometidos en el ejercicio del culto religioso. Este artículo propone una revisión de los motivos que impidieron conciliar las posturas del Estado y el episcopado durante el desarrollo del conflicto entre la Iglesia y el Estado en México entre los años 1926 y 1929, centrándose en las ideas y en los sistemas de creencias que motivaron el ac­tuar de ambos grupos. Entre ellos se destaca la adhesión del gobierno callista a la razón de Estado y del clero mexicano a la conciencia, como aquellos conceptos que sustentaron sus posturas e impidieron frenar el conflicto.es-ES
