dc.descriptionAbstract Once the independence of Mexico was declared, after 1821, in the public sphere appeared occa­sionally works that sought to account for statistical records alluding characteristics of the terri­tory. One of those works with regional and specific character, because of its correspondence to the sphere of public finance, was the Razón general de Hacienda (1823) of Antonio Gutiérrez y Ulloa, last intendant of Guadalajara. Although, his work is well known, it is only because of a small sta­tistical section attached to the main corpus. The purpose of this paper is to analyse in some deeper view and with an adequate historical context its meaning, in order to reassess its weight as a his­toriographic source in terms of its global scope and in its limitations.en-US
dc.descriptionResumen Luego de 1821, fecha en que fue declarada la independencia de México, aparecieron oca­sionalmente obras que buscaban dar cuenta de registros estadísticos alusivos a las caracte­rísticas del territorio. Una de esas obras con carácter regional y específico, por tratarse de finanzas públicas, fue la Razón general de Hacienda (1823) de Antonio Gutiérrez y Ulloa, último intendente de Guadalajara. Aunque esta obra es relativamente conocida, sólo lo es respecto a un pequeño apartado estadístico anexo al corpus principal de la obra. El propó­sito de este trabajo es indagar con detalle el contexto histórico y el sentido de esta obra, para así revalorar su peso como fuente historiográfica en cuanto a sus alcances globales y a sus limitaciones.es-ES
