The antioxidant properties and the foliar phenol composition of 25 Mexican varieties of Phaseolus vulgaris L. (common bean) were evaluated. Phaseolus coccineus was analysed with comparative aims. The high performance liquid chromatography with photodiode array detection analysis revealed 27 phenolics in the leaves of P. vulgaris (13 quercetin-3-O-glycosides, 8 kaempferol-3-O-glycosides, 2 myricetin glycosides and 4 phenolic acids) and 5 in P. coccineus (2 kaempferol-3-O-glycoside, 2 apigenin-7-O-glycoside and 1 luteolin-7-O-glycoside). All extracts showed high levels of phenols and flavonoids (0.964-5.601 mg g-1 dry tissue, and 0.287-1.418 mg g-1 dry tissue, respectively) and relevant antioxidant properties, suggesting that the leaves of the varieties of P. vulgaris are a significant source of natural antioxidants. The foliar phenol profiles were species-specific and, besides, the qualitative variation allowed discriminating among varieties of P. vulgaris. These profiles can represent an important varietal authenticity proof. dc.description.abstractGarcía, G.O.",,"2005",,"A technique which combines a dynamic calculation of a multistage gear mechanism and the statistical energy analysis (SEA) is used to determine the acoustical power emitted by the mechanism. The gear mechanism is represented as a ultimass and multicoupling dynamical system. The dynamical calculation of the mechanism is used to determine the energy introduced in the mechanism and the energy transmitted to its housing. An acoustical model is used to perform the acoustical calculation. This model includes the gear mechanism, housing, and the frame, internal and external acoustical spaces. The combination of dynamic and acoustic models allows to utilize the advantage of dynamic calculation accurately describing the mechanism's performance and the SEA method for describing an acoustical model having the elements of high mode density in a wide frequency range. This technique is used to investigate the causes of a high noise level of a shuttle loading mechanism of a multiopening weaving machine and to find the means to reduce its noise level. It is found that the mechanism is the dominant source of noise of this machine because it has two heads of high velocity gear trains. The structural noise is greater than air noise and the housing noise is predominant in the noise level of the mechanism. A change in the housing design was proposed to reduce noise level.",,,,,,,,,"http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12104/41331","http://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-84881568442&partnerID=40&md5=be2e83a4bb95b155aa4e81cf2036c994",,,,,,,,"12th International Congress on Sound and Vibration 2005, ICSV 2005",,"1271

Campero, A.",,"2011",,"Nanostructured TiO2 films were synthesized by a modified sol-gel method using Pluronics P-123 (EO20PO70EO20) as templating agent, titanium n-butoxide [Ti(OC4H9) 4] as inorganic precursor, and ammonium fluoride (NH4F) as the source of N and F dopant atoms in order to prepare sols of x(NF) TiO 2 (x=2, 5, 10, 20 wt%). The thin film preparation was made by spin coating, followed by calcination at 400 °C. The as-prepared TiO2 and xNF-TiO2 films were characterized by XRD, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, TGA-DTA, SEM, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and EPR. XRD and Raman spectroscopy show that the crystalline structure of these samples consists exclusively of the anatase phase. The band gap (E g ) values for the doped 10 and 20 NF-TiO2 film systems were found to be significantly smaller than those corresponding to the rest of the other TiO2 films. The photocatalytic properties of these films are investigated by following the degradation of methyl orange in aqueous solution under UV irradiation. The photodecomposition is mainly a direct function of the amount of NF present in the TiO2 matrix. The 20NF-TiO2 sample shows the highest activity of all the samples studied.
